workretailVersion control and reviews2026

Getting the team onto git

Stored procedures and scripts had no version history, so nobody knew what changed or why. I brought in git for the Airflow code, the custom scripts and dbt, and made reviews a must before merging. Then I ran a git course, recorded short videos and wrote handover docs, so the team could keep going without me.

How it works

Tap a step for the details.

  1. Stored procedures and scripts with no record of what changed.

  2. The Airflow code, custom scripts and dbt, all in git.

  3. Every change needs a review before it's merged.

  4. A git course, short training videos and handover docs.

  5. The team can carry it on without me.
